Hestus raises $7.4M for mechanical-engineering-specific AI models

Hestus, a startup based in San Mateo, announced on October 2 that it has raised a $7.4 million seed round to build a purpose-built AI model for mechanical engineering. The round was led by Insight Partners, with Chalfen Ventures, Rock Yard Ventures, and Garage Capital among the participating investors. Unite.AI reported on the financing on October 3.

The premise behind the company is that a mechanical engineer can know exactly what a part needs to do and still spend hours turning that intent into sketches, dimensions, and constraints. Hestus is betting that AI can absorb more of that repetitive work, and the seed funding is intended to support a model built specifically for mechanical engineering rather than a general-purpose one.
