How is heat calculated?About the board

When several outlets cover the same story it counts as one event. Heat counts how many independent sources discussed it in the last 48 hours, each source counted once, decaying with a 24-hour half-life — so one outlet publishing ten posts does not inflate the ranking. It measures how active the discussion is, not how good the reporting is.

The board is refreshed once a day over a rolling 48-hour window. The trend line samples once an hour: with fewer than three samples nothing is drawn, and gaps break the line instead of counting as zero.

Every entry links back to the original, plus a tool page when we have one. Summaries come from public feeds and remain the property of the original authors; verify important facts at the source.
