Meta open-sources Muse Spark Open and partners with Apple for local runs

Meta has released the open weights of Muse Spark Open on Hugging Face under the Muse Model License, an 816B-parameter MoE coding and agent model with 42B active parameters and a 1M-token context window, also available on Baseten, Together AI, Amazon SageMaker AI and Google Cloud Model Garden. Meta is partnering with Apple to run the model locally on clustered M5 Ultra Mac Studios, though no timeline, hardware configuration or performance figures were disclosed. Meta says the model is weaker than Muse Wonder, released Monday, and its strongest models remain closed.

Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Family Lands on Ollama and Baseten

Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 family has moved from launch to distribution. Nemotron 3.5 Super VL is now available on Baseten and Ollama, with Ollama claiming up to 5x the throughput of comparable open models on a single GPU for agentic tasks. The edge-focused Nemotron 3.5 Bolt 74B-A9B also landed on Ollama, using native 2-bit quantization to run locally in 24GB of memory. Artificial Analysis scores Super VL at 26 on its Intelligence Index, making it the leading US open-weight model.

AI writes code faster, but developers' own skills are quietly eroding

A Juejin post cites two studies suggesting AI-assisted coding erodes skills people rely on when AI is unavailable. In an Anthropic randomized controlled trial, 52 developers who learned a new library with AI scored about 17 percentage points lower on debugging tasks once AI was banned; in METR's study, 16 senior open-source developers finished real tasks 19% slower while believing they were 20% faster. The post maps the erosion across debugging, code review, scaffolding, API recall and architecture decisions.

Qwen launches display-free AI glasses N1 and N1 Pro from CNY 2,218

Qwen has started selling its display-free AI glasses N1 and N1 Pro, with the N1 priced from CNY 2,218 after subsidies and limited-time discounts. Despite packing a 50MP sensor, eye tracking and biometric sensors, the N1 Pro weighs about 44g without lenses and relies on a roughly 5mW always-on vision sensing path that wakes higher-performance chips on demand. IDC data shows China's smart glasses shipments fell 8% year over year in Q2 2026, the first such decline.

How is heat calculated?About the board

When several outlets cover the same story it counts as one event. Heat counts how many independent sources discussed it in the last 48 hours, each source counted once, decaying with a 24-hour half-life — so one outlet publishing ten posts does not inflate the ranking. It measures how active the discussion is, not how good the reporting is.

The board is refreshed once a day over a rolling 48-hour window. The trend line samples once an hour: with fewer than three samples nothing is drawn, and gaps break the line instead of counting as zero.

The up/down arrow compares with six hours ago, with natural decay removed: a story only counts as rising when new independent sources joined in the last six hours. Simply getting older does not read as a fall, and the surge badges only appear when new outlets actually pick the story up.
